This course will cover the surgical treatment of challenging fractures in dogs and cats. A number of important, unique fractures will be discussed, where key features of the injuries will be highlighted. Surgical techniques will be taught in laboratories, with participants learning the procedures on both plastic bones and cadaver specimens. Learning objectives include:• Partipants will be expected to understand the rationale for minimally invasive orthopedic surgery in dogs and cats
• Participants will be able to repair diaphyseal antebrachial and tibial fractures with minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis
• Participants will be able to recognize Monteggia fractures, and repair these injuries with internal fracture fixation
• Participants will learn about the challenges with humeral supracondylar fractures, and repair these injuries with internal fracture fixation
• Participants will learn about unique fractures of the tarsus, and repair these injuries with various techniques
• Participants will learn about metatarsal and metacarpal fractures, and repair these injuries with various techniques• Participants will learn about metatarsal and metacarpal fractures, and repair these injuries with various techniques
